Quicken Me Lord – A Word for This Hour

I was reading from Psalm 119 this week, and the cry of the heart: “Quicken Me” WAS HEARD as I read throughout this single chapter, with these particular words being “illuminated” by the Spirit of God.  It was a cry within my own heart, true… and yet, it was as if I could hear believers everywhere, across the land, crying out, maybe unspoken or even unidentified, these same “personal” words: “Quicken Me!”

So before we look at the scripture, let’s take a peek at the definition of Quicken:

  • Make or become faster or quicker: “she quickened her pace, desperate to escape”; “I felt my pulse quicken”.
  • Spring to life; become animated: “her interest quickened”; “he looked with quickening curiosity through the smoke”.
  • Spiritual meaning: Make me with living energy to pursue the way marked out by Thee. Revive me from the death of spiritual helplessness!

Being “worn down by the enemy”…an onslaught of fears, apathy, lethargy, despair, anxiety, and a wondering of “what’s the use?” seem to paralyze even the most committed Believers in Christ in this hour. Perhaps we have our focus on our own woeful situations, or that of others around us…be it  disasters, unrest of nations, weather’s destruction, financial hardships, relationship issues, the state of the church, or the crisis in one’s own country, the antichrist spirit pervading all, or the perceived advancement of the Kingdom of Darkness on every front.  We feel a bit helpless. Maybe even believe we are in a state of helplessness, corporately, where nothing we do matters at this point… YET deep inside we know, by the Holy Spirit, that with the Lord, the situations and circumstances are NOT hopeless!

I am here to declare: We are sometimes Helpless, but never Hopeless! Hopeless means “without hope” and it can also mean, “beyond ability to change”. We are neither!

As believers, we simply need to cry out to the Lord. He is the Almighty! Nothing is impossible! Even us, personally, to change!  To be quickened. To come “to life”! Hopeful – full of faith and power, energy and drive – Able to advance!

And what do we then cry?

“QUICKEN ME!”

When I think of this cry of heart, I also think of the dry bones, and Ezekiel going to the valley full of them. (Ezekiel 37).  “Can these dry bones live?” asked God.  “Only you know, Lord.” replied Ezekiel.  Yet then God said “Speak to the dry bones!” As Ezekiel then did this, and obeyed the voice of the Almighty, he used the words (vs 4-6): Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!”“Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.  I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.” The Almighty had the ability to bring from lifelessness, a QUICKENING, and life came…bones, the sinews, muscles, tissue, skin, and this great army came TO LIFE.  Hmm… this is not a fairy tale.  This actually took place.  God brought back that which was completely lifeless. Verse 10 says, “breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.” So, too, HE IS ABLE to quicken you and I.  Isn’t He?

I venture to say, just as the bones came to life one man at a time, yet corporately the whole army stood on their feet together, so too, will be the QUICKENING that we Believers in Christ cry out for in this hour.

What is our part? And what is God’s part? to BE QUICKENED in our spirit, soul, and body?

Let’s talk about that.  All I speak of will come from David, the Psalmist, recorded in Psalm 119. Feel free to grab your own bible to mark these verses, as we go along. I used the KJV.

First let’s look at Psalm 119: 25, 86-88

25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust:

Quicken thou me according to thy word.

86 All thy commandments are faithful:

they persecute me wrongfully;

Help thou me.

87 They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.

88 Quicken me after thy lovingkindness;

so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

89 Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

From the underlined phrases, you will note that David, in this psalm, was declaring WHY he, himself, needed to be quickened.  It appears he was being persecuted, for some reason… a wrongful reason, and his soul (mind-will-emotions) were exhausted, and that this oppression from all that was going on had almost consumed him.  In short, his mental and physical health, his vitality, was almost exhausted to the state of dying! His suffering is leading him to feeling quite helpless. Yet he is knowing within himself that he has not parted from the Lord, nor deserved this treatment, though there has been persecution and torment of his soul.

No wonder he prayed QUICKEN ME!

Along with his prayer to be quickened, he is declaring a few things.  First he says that all God’s commands are faithful…meaning they can be depended upon.  Then he says that, though persecuted and nearly consumed, He KEPT the precepts of God. In other words, he was obedient to all he knew to be God’s will.  He goes on to say that WHEN he IS “quickened” (Indeed, he was praying in faith), he will keep the testimony of God’s mouth.  In other words, he will continue to follow hard after the Lord when he is energized.  And his final declaration is: FOREVER the Lord’s Word is settled in heaven… implying that it is his only remaining “constant”, his firm foundation, and that forever he will follow it, no matter what!

So, when he pleads with God, QUICKEN ME… he acknowledges HIS WORD, and its ability to indeed quicken him. Verse 25’s “according to thy word” indicates this is his understanding.

Again, he pleads with God, QUICKEN ME, and we notice in verse 88…he acknowledges the Lord’s LOVING KINDNESS.

I believe this indeed a key to being quickened, because it is necessary to BELIEVE IN our Lord’s LOVING KINDNESS, in order to not be discouraged or downtrodden ourselves, as His Judgments come upon the wicked; or we view the reapings of unrepentant sinners; see the enemy about us robbing, killing, and destroying; or even deal with our own sin-consciousness due to our own erring from The Truth.  Remember David also spoke the words of Psalm 27:13, which read: I would have fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

David knew that God was full of goodness and loving kindness… or else he would have fainted—GIVEN UP! But he didn’t! and neither should we!  Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He remains a good and loving and kind God, and WILL RESPOND to our cry: Quicken Me!

From this set of verses alone we can see that our part is to believe and adhere to THE WORD, and to believe in God’s goodness and loving kindness.  So what can we then KNOW is God’s Part: THE QUICKENING!  ASK and RECEIVE BY FAITH – YOUR OWN QUICKENING!

Sometimes we have to realize we are either asleep, or nearly dead, without energy, or drive (I’m talking spiritually here) before we can even realize we need to ask to be quickened. Right?   And, as a rule, almost always to GET HELP, first one must recognize their need for it, and then ask for it.  So be thinking of your own personal self, as you continue to read, for it may be God is meeting a need you don’t even know yet, that you have (smile).  The need to be quickened, yourself…

SO, NOW, while still in Psalm 119… let’s look at other scriptures that cry out: QUICKEN ME!

Psalm 119:40 says,

“Behold, I have longed after your precepts: Quicken me in your righteousness.”

Here we see again, that David longs after God’s ways… and this time he pleads the Lord’s righteousness.

We therefore, know, that David is acknowledging that it is not something he is going to earn or deserve.  Just as our salvation was a gift – and the Lord’s righteousness given to us at time of conversion… any “quickening” that will take place, will also be because of the Lord’s righteousness, and not our own.

Well, so far we are in! (smile)  We can ask, Quicken Me! …whilst believing in God’s loving kindness and in his righteousness. Let’s focus on our Lord, as we pray.  Not on our need, but on his ability.  We must acknowledge both, actually… but faith IS FAITH when who God is, becomes BIGGER in the eyes of our heart than the thing we are praying about.

Now let’s look at yet another verse in Psalm 119, which cries out: QUICKEN ME!

Psalm 119:37

“Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.”

We definitely have an “our part” mentioned in this verse: turn our eyes away from beholding vanity!

The words “in thy way” make it perfectly clear that it is NOT God’s way for our eyes to be beholding vanity.  Now what does this mean for you and I?

Barnes Notes on the Bible describes vanity as:

Vain things are wicked things; things which would be likely to lead you and I astray from what is real and true. Make my eyes to pass rapidly from such objects, that I may not look at them, may not contemplate them, may not dwell upon them. There is danger in looking on sin steadily; in surveying its features; in returning to contemplate it. An ugly object loses much of its deformity when we look often upon it; and this is a benevolent law, lest we should be miserable when we are under a necessity of looking on it. Sin follows this general law, and is to be avoided altogether, even in its contemplation, if we would be safe. A man should be thankful in this world that he has eyelids; and as he can close his eyes, so he should often do it.

When I personally read this, conviction comes by the Spirit, that vanity includes all other things I trust in other than God: pleasures, riches, idols, human power, jobs, even people. And certainly this includes anything that activates covetousness in me: a wanting after something I do not have.  When our wants rob our haves from being enjoyed, we are beholding vanity.

Thus far we can conclude, then, that a way to be quickened spiritually is to turn our eyes away from vanity… and instead, focus anew upon our Lord: his word, his loving kindness, his righteousness, and his way.

Now we see another cry to Quicken Me, in Psalm 119:107

“I am afflicted very much: Quicken me, O LORD, according to your word.”

Once again, why the need to be quickened is addressed. David is suffering! He is in acknowledging his need. He IS afflicted. It does not infer this is physical as much as emotional suffering.  A tormenting is going on within him due to his feeling spiritually helpless amidst others oppressing him! Just because a torment is not in the physical realm, as in sickness or disease, does not mean it is not intense suffering!  I personally was afflicted during a time in my life with spiritual verbal abuse, and it affected my physical health. I was indeed to the point of despair. I remember well that I would  cry within, with “unspoken” words, what the Psalmist David speaks out loud in expression.

I am here to speak it to you, my brother or sister. GOD KNOWS YOU NEED TO BE QUICKENED…and yes, right now!  SO ASK HIM!  CRY OUT “QUICKEN ME”!!!  He will hear you, and He will answer.

You can be just like David, who, in Psalm 119:149, cried:

“Hear my voice according to your loving kindness: O LORD, quicken me according to your judgment.”

David appeals first to God’s loving kindness, right? Yet he goes on to plead, according to His judgment, as well.

David is essentially saying to God, “Revive my heart according to those principles of justice, founded on your own nature, and revealed in your law, which specially sets forth that mercy is to given to the humble, as well as, justice given to the wicked.”

David acknowledges that God is just – he sees and hears all – he knows hearts, hears tongues, weighs motives, and His judgments are pure and right. He is fully aware of those who are turning toward him, versus those who are turning away from him.  As long as you are in the posture of turning toward God, you can cry out QUICKEN ME!  That’s our simple part.  Then God does the doing of the quickening….bringing us to life! (smile)

We know this is how David is thinking, because once again, he appeals to God’s ability to show mercies to those who come toward Him, and to bring judgments against those whose posture is away from Him. This is his judgment. He sees all sides. Before he brings then his judgments.

Let’s now look at Psalm 119:156

Great are your tender mercies, O LORD: Quicken me according to your judgments.

Here, he appeals to tender mercies…not just the loving kindness.  What is the difference? This appeal for tender mercies is revealing that David walks in the reverential fear of the Lord.  Mercies are extended toward “the undeserved”. Mercy is, after all, defined as: Compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm. David adds this, for within he may hear The Accuser tell him he is really not deserving of God quickening him, so in light of this, still humble before God, he is pleading “mercy”…saying “Quicken me… even if it is purest mercy…which I know it is, deep down.”  An awareness of our deserving punishment is simply humility, i.e. agreeing with God and how he might look at our sin. Yet still “according to your judgments” infers that God is also aware of David’s good heart toward him, and desire to please, and the keeping of His Commands that he does do, according to the love of God that is within him.

Okay, my friend… I think us looking at the couple verses prior to that mercies plea, may help us all fully see, that we can cry out: QUICKEN ME!

Psalm 119:154-155

Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according to thy word. Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.

If we are crying out TO GOD, can we not reason together that God will plead our cause and bring us deliverance?  Clearly as The Word says, Salvation is far from the wicked, but listen… you wouldn’t be crying out to God, or desiring to live according to His Word, if you were “the wicked”.  You may have stumbled, surely… but then Jesus, your advocate, will plead your case, and rest assured God will quicken you, in response to your asking.

David’s last plea for quickening comes in Verse 159:

“Consider how I love your precepts: Quicken me, O LORD, according to your loving kindness.”

Let’s pause a moment. This “quickening” prayer occurs here in this same chapter now for the ninth time, showing a deep sense of frailty on David’s part. He is longing for God, pleading with him to step in and strengthen him.

This time he is pleading: “Please, consider how I love your precepts.”

I looked up the word “precept” and it means “a general rule intended to regulate behavior or thought.”  So, in modern words, David is saying to the Lord:  “I love for you to tell me how I am to act and what I am to think!  I am not rebellious toward your ruling and reigning over me!  I want you to give me sovereign rule.  I love your precepts! Please don’t categorize me with those who are in rebellion toward you. I am not!”

Conclusion:

In one chapter, Psalm 119, we discover David’s crying out “QUICKEN ME”.

And you, as a believer, are invited to cry out right now, today, this same prayer to the Lord: “QUICKEN ME!”

God wants you to, so He may answer.

He is ready to have all of us, in his army, have our “dry bones LIVE”.  He is desiring for us to TURN TOWARD HIM with a cry in our heart… even though exhausted and afflicted, discouraged, or feeling pretty helpless… Just a cry! (some of you may not even have enough life in yourself to express anything but an unspoken cry).  It is enough…just plead within then: QUICKEN ME, LORD.

HE WILL HEAR.

Just as the psalmist begs for God’s reviving, quickening grace…. Let us!  We need it Church! If you don’t need quickening, personally… then cry out for your brothers and sisters, His Church, that THEY BE QUICKENED!

I am personally crying out. I admit it. I am crying out for the Church too, to be quickened. This is why I write this, as a scribe… for the Lord. He is telling me what to speak in writing, with these articles of late. He is wanting those in His Army to activate, everywhere, who have a desire to…whatever your gift or calling, or job or talent, or circumstance or bondage. GOD CAN QUICKEN YOU!

But He wants you to cry out and ask!

QUICKEN ME!

Not sure how to ask?  I cut/paste…so let’s just pray the words of David, together, shall we?  Then we know that we are praying in the will of God, right?

Quicken thou me according to thy word. Quicken me after thy loving kindness.  Quicken me in your righteousness. Quicken thou me in thy way. Quicken me, O LORD, according to your word. Quicken me, O LORD, according to your loving kindness. O LORD, Quicken me according to your judgment. Quicken me according to thy word. Quicken me according to your judgments. Quicken me, O LORD, according to your loving kindness.

–          I will continue in the longing for and loving your precepts, keeping them…

–          I will turn away my eyes from beholding vanity, renewing my focus on you!

–          Plead my cause, and deliver me, for great are your tender mercies.

Your loving kindness is toward me

I BELIEVE YOU HEAR – AS I MAKE MY PLEA:

QUICKEN ME!

NOTE: This is a reblog of a post written under my maiden name Elizabeth Norland, November 1, 2012, for as Habakkuk 2:2-3 mentions, sometimes we write things down by the Holy Spirit that await an appointed time, which my friends, is NOW, at least for me! Maybe for you. So act on this word. Please. And see, together with me, what God will do!! Amen?!

Lay Hold on Eternal Life

Jesus The Gift That Keeps On Giving

Revolution requires Revelation. Are we living a normal life, when we could be living a divine life?  Is all the world dwelling in darkness because we haven’t laid hold on a particular truth we ourselves are called to?  We  all are actually “called to live it” and “are to confess it“…and are to “keep this commandment without spot, blameless” until Jesus comes!!…So please, loved ones, allow me to begin to tell you…just what God is showing me…it is just “the beginning” then of what He will then begin to show you! Please read every single word–I don’t want you to miss out on something God will reveal to you personally.

This week, while reading scripture, I realized there was a phrase repeated… so I took special note of it…and began to meditate on its meaning…

So, read it yourself. I’ve typed it here. Do you see it?

I Timothy 6:11-21

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called, and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen. Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge—by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.

Note that Paul says, in verse 12,  “Lay hold on the eternal life” … to which you were called…I Timothy 6:19 emphasizes the same phrase, “lay hold on eternal life“.

See in Verse 13-14 we are urged in the sight of God and Christ to “keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing.”

To fight the good fight of the faith in the Christian life, and especially in the Christian ministry, we need to lay hold on this divine life and not trust in our human life. Hence, in 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus, the eternal life is stressed again and again. Please take time to see this for yourself: (1 Tim. 1:16; 6:19; 2 Tim. 1:1, 10; Titus 1:2; 3:7). Go ahead and google a glance at these scriptures if you’re on the internet.

We have been called to the eternal life of God. We were born of the human natural life, but we were reborn of the divine eternal life when we were called by God in Christ. Romans 6:23 tells us that eternal life is A Gift…”But the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Other scriptures also tell us that we are saved through believing, through grace, and not of works, so no one can ever boast. So laying hold on the eternal life is an invitation that can be accepted by all men of all nations, as they come to understand just what that means.

Verses 11 and 12 of our I Timothy 6 text, are a marvelous summary of how a man or woman of God, who is in Christ, ought to live. Living the divine life means we pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and meekness; we should fight the good fight of faith, and lay hold on eternal life.

Paul specifically says, in verse 12, that we have been called to eternal life. No other book in the New Testament speaks of “the eternal life to which you were called.” Do you realize that you have been called to eternal life? This eternal life does not mainly refer to blessings in the future, although we do lay up treasure in heaven. To be called to eternal life does not mean that we have been called to enjoy blessings in heaven. We are to enjoy eternal blessings even now…here. Eternal life should be our life today, a life for our present daily living. And it will direct every single choice in life we make, after we lay hold of it.

Many believers in today’s world have not fully laid hold of the truth we are going to illuminate today. I am especially concerned for those dear saints who have been distracted from the eternal life to which we have been called and who have become preoccupied with other things. We have been called uniquely to eternal life. This life, the divine life, is actually the Triune God Himself. You and I have been called to eternal life, and now should lay hold on this life, live this life, and have our whole being transformed according to this life.

First we must identify what the scripture itself says IS eternal life. In other words, what is the definition of eternal life:

John 17:3 “and this IS eternal lifethat they know you, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”

Does that definition say, oh, it’s a life in heaven…or, it’s for the future…or it’s life after death. No!! It is “knowing” God and Jesus! Knowing like in “Intimacy”!! Oneness! Eternal life is ours NOW! Lay hold on eternal life. It is a life of oneness with the Godhead.

This other verse comes immediately to mind: “He that has the Son hath life …he that has not the Son of God has not life.”

Let’s look at that in context…

I John 5:10 -13:

10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. 11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

God is the best witness ever! We can TRUST Him, though God knows it’s difficult these days to trust anyone else, and He says here, in no uncertain terms, that there are not other ways, or other gods, or religions that lead to eternal life. Eternal life is in Christ Jesus.

Read and declare aloud verses 11-12 above until you get it deep in your spirit…and better yet, until you can say them by heart to anyone you are called “to witness to” in the days and weeks ahead. The whole passage can be shown them, as you yourself lay hold on eternal life, and share this truth with others!  The divine life can be lived as you and I abide in the Father and in the Son. Eternal life is our focus. HE Becomes our life. We have eternity within us now. Fear need never overtake us…ever…again! And look, see 14 and 15 of the I John 5 passage: the asking and receiving comes confidently when we realize our position eternally in the Godhead. We abide IN THEM even now. We are ETERNAL even now, a gift, for when we received Jesus, we received eternal life. Praise GOD!

As we glance down to I John 5:20-21 we see this amazing passage as well:

“And we know that the son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children keep yourselves from idols. amen.”

Interesting too, is the verse tagged on to the passage above. Almost as if it didn’t belong there. Yet, We will keep ourselves from idols…i.e. all that would interfere with living in light of eternity, anything that God and Christ, in us, could not participate in, with us. We will be mindful of what we have been putting in front of God, priority wise. We want to know God and Christ… not some untruth or falsehood…and as we abide in fellowship with the Godhead through the Holy Spirit, we will know the truth, and the truth will set us free. In many areas of our life, where we may now be bound in sin, or living a normal life rather than a divine life, laying hold of eternal life, will open up increasing revelation from the scriptures in so many ways.

Look here at this amazing scripture of truth, right in line with what I’m tell you above:

I John 2:18-29

18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.

20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.21 I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22 Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.

23 Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

24 Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life.

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him 28 And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. 29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.

Oh that we would grow in revelation of what eternal life is, within us, nowtoday…and how knowing we will live for eternity, in the Godhead, will empower us to be overcomers amidst a world overrun with the antichrist spirit. It will make us bold as lions! It will fill our mouths with praises to Our God! It will cause us to love like Christ! To have our land abound with signs, wonders, miracles, giving, sharing, loving our Eternal Life! Making our God and Savior glorified among men! Yes!! May the Lord strengthen and empower us to “let our light so shine before men that they may see our good works and glorify the Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

We can definitely fight the good fight of faith, if our heads can wrap around this awesome truth…That he who has the Son has life, and he who has not the Son of God has not life.

Man of God, Charles Spurgeon, is quoted as saying this:

You, poor Sinner, as you go after your follies and amusements, may the call, “Lay hold on eternal life,” come to you until you shall obey it and quit such trifles!

And you, Christian, when you get into the world and are tempted to make gain by sin, while you will suffer loss by righteousness, may you hear a voice say, “Lay hold on eternal life”!

And any of You…When you who get the “cold shoulder” and the rough side of men’s tongues, when you begin to think that you cannot bear it, may you hear the voice saying, again, “Lay hold on eternal life.”

Cling to that, for God, for Christ, for eternity, for Heaven. The eternal life is the only life worth living! God help you to live for it always and, if you do, it will be of His own Grace—and to Him shall be all the Glory, forever and ever! Amen.

And I, Beth Ann Smith, say, “AMEN!” I can’t put it any clearer than that. The scriptures I have shared were given me by the Holy Spirit, whose job it is to reveal that which God and Christ have to give us. Accept Jesus! He loves you and gave his life so you can have ETERNAL LIFE… a life of eternal fellowship with God your creator, and Jesus, who IS Eternal Life. The Life is IN HIM. Without Him, Jesus, you will not have life. It is actually that simple.

Because we have ALL sinned… it’s important again, to realize, that Eternal Life, is the gift we are given, within the gift of God’s Son. It is the BEST NEWS on the face of the planet! And if you ask Jesus and Father and Holy Spirit into your life, and receive Eternal Life…then you will be the HAPPIEST you’ve ever been, no matter what chaos the Devil, who knows his time is short, will try to throw at you.  Only thing has to happen concerning a gift… you must receive it.. and live IN IT… you must LAY HOLD ON ETERNAL LIFE, and no longer live your “normal life” ever again.

I close with sharing these two verses, once again: I John 5:11-12

And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life,

and this life is in His Son.

He who has the Son has the life;

he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.

LAY HOLD ON ETERNAL LIFE

Learning What NOT To Do as a Nation Under God

Nation under God?

The USA has been responding to God as the nation of ancient Israel did, right before their Enemies were made to Rule Over Them. God has not changed, and has given to us an incredible warning passage, Psalm 106, that holds key observations and similarities between our nations. It reveals their actions and his responses, so we can literally learn from ISRAEL, what NOT to do.

The first verse assures us that God’s mercy is always and forever available to us, for He is a Good God. Oh how wonderful it would be, if we would each respond as God desires us to, so we can collectively keep ourselves as a Nation Under God, Indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all.  Clearly we need to turn toward Him to stay in our blessed state of existence, for justice and righteousness are the foundation of his throne. There is no liberty or justice apart from God. It is a deadly lie of the modern world that liberty is “apart from” submission to our Creator and King. He is our supreme authority at all times, and His Word reveals His Will.

HERE IS MY OUTLINE OF THE CHAPTER – PSALM 106

Psalm 106:1

Praise the Lord, for He is Good…for His Mercy endures forever!

  1. Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? Who can declare all his praise?
  1. Blessed are those who keep justice and he who does righteousness at all times!

It is interesting that a prayer begins the chapter, as the nation’s sins are then acknowledged, for future generations to see, and to learn from. We can learn from their mistakes, from seeing God’s responses, and how godly men can indeed “intervene” when sin is standing in the way of God’s merciful nature and turning him toward wrath. Clearly, as scripture says, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much!”

The remarkable prayer that begins the chapter:

“Remember me Lord with the favor you have toward your people…

visit me with your salvation…

that I may see the benefit of your chosen ones…

that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation…

that I may glory with your inheritance.”

Now let’s observe what the people did against God….that we may learn… and turn:

  • sinned with our fathers
  • have committed iniquity
  • have done wickedly
  • did not understand your wonders
  • did not remember the multitude of your mercies
  • instead… rebelled against God
  • soon forgot his works
  • did not wait for his counsel
  • lusted exceedingly in the wilderness
  • tested God in the desert.
    • And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.
  • envied leadership and spoke against their spiritual authorities, Moses and Aaron.
    • The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan and Abiram, and fire burned up the wicked.
  • exchanged their glory (God), for an image of an ox that eats grass
  • forgot God and his works and awesome things done
    • Therefore He said that He would destroy them.
      • But Moses stood in the breach, interceded, and turned away his wrath
  • despised the “pleasant” land
  • complained in their tents
  • did not heed the voice of the Lord
    • Therefore He raised his hand in an oath to overthrow them in the wilderness.
  • joined themselves to Baal, and ate sacrifices made to the dead
  • provoked him to anger with their deeds
    • Therefore a plague broke out
      • And Phineas stood up and intervened in the plague was stopped
      • The plague was stopped and that intervention was accounted to him for righteousness.
  •  angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses on account of them..
  • they rebelled against His Spirit so that he, Moses, spoke rashly with his lips. (leaders are held accountable by God as they lead; he wasn’t allowed into the promised land, that he led them to)
  • did not destroy the peoples, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them.
  • mingled with the Gentiles (those who did not know or follow Jehovah)
  • learned their works and served their idols, which became a snare to them.
  • sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons..shed their blood to idols of Canaan, polluted the land with blood.
  • were defiled by their own works.
  • played the harlot by their own deeds.
    • Therefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against his people, so that he abhored his own inheritance.
    • He gave them into the hand of the Gentiles and those who hated them ruled over them.
    • Their enemies also oppressed them and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
  • Many times he delivered them, but they rebelled in their counsel and were brought low for their iniquity.
    • Nevertheless, he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry, and for their sake he remembered his covenant and relented according to the multitude of his mercies.
    • He also made them to be pitied by all those who carried them away captive.

The Chapter ends with another remarkable prayer:

Save us, oh Lord our God… and gather us from among the Gentiles… to give thanks to your holy name… and to triumph in your praise!

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting to everlasting!

And let all the people say, Amen.

Praise the Lord!

NOW… Why is all this shared? Because I have GOOD NEWS and I have BAD NEWS:

The GOOD NEWS is...Jesus took God’s wrath upon himself, so if you repent as an individual of any of these sins listed in Psalm 106, and believe Jesus took away God’s wrath toward you, you can rest at ease and pray for the nation to turn toward God too. Even in this chapter we see clearly it is God’s desire to extend Mercy over Judgment.

Wrath

YET, THE BAD NEWS is.…He who does not Believe the Son shall not see life but the Wrath of God abides on him.  And the wrath of God IS revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness. God has indeed made The Truth evident to mankind of how He looks upon ungodliness (evil behavior) and unrighteousness (believing we are good and righteous in our own right or that there is another way to reconcile with God.) Take a look at the detail of these verses in the pictures:

Life or Wrath

Friends, Christ is the GOOD NEWS amidst THE BAD NEWS. Always was and always will be THE ANSWER for an individual’s sin problem!

So…What About The Nation ?  The USA? and it’s sins collectively???

We have been met with great mercies, yet the Lord is calling for individuals to come to Him, and as he “collectively sees” hearts after Him, he can hold back wrath. If, however, we are as Israel, and continue in our rebellious ways, collectively as a Nation, we can expect nothing else but God’s Wrath to be extended upon the USA. We have indeed committed the same sins as Israel, his chosen people did. They started out blessed and delivered, as the USA has… but they were brought into captivity and judgment. What will be Our Fate as a country? If we are the same toward GOD, as Israel was in days of old, then we know we will be taken captive by our enemies.

Can YOU make a difference? Yes, of course!!!

Come to Jesus and be reconciled to God! Repent of sin and receive sweet cleansing and reconciliation to God through Christ.  In Christ is everything you need! Ever!  Be saved. Be water baptized to identify with Him, and ask Him to baptize you with His Spirit to receive power to go through the end times now upon us, and to be his witness! His Word will be a lamp to your path, and his hands will take a hold of yours and lead you…as his Spirit comes to dwell within you. Trust and obey Him. As you align yourself to Him, you will receive such a sweet abiding presence of His Spirit within you, and will be just fine, no matter what the future holds.

Only God knows whether we have, as a Nation, tipped the scales toward his wrath… so Today, If you Hear His Voice, Harden not your heart.  Your being saved as “an individual” whether you live or die, is what is important right now. Cry out to Jesus, and God will be be reconciled to you through Jesus’ blood. He is The Way! And YOU become the righteousness of God in Christ, and He will no longer see your unrighteousness, but His Son’s Righteousness in you.

Amen. Truly the Good News for a nation and an individual is Christ!! For the wrath of God was turned away, as the love of God gave us Christ, who took the wages of sin upon Himself, that those WHO BELIEVE IN HIM MIGHT BE SAVED!

Your Christian Walk Likened to a Commuter Train

This YouTube presentation, which I created as it was given me from the Lord, will give you a change of perspective in how to look at your own christian walk. It is likened to a commuter train in so many respects. I admit the presentation is not “exciting” (for it was my first attempt at a youtube), yet I still encourage you to view it in its entirety, for each page is full of revelation that could only be given in “modern day”and “for such a time as this”.  Indeed, the change of perspective it will bring, will give YOU strength in the days ahead in your own Christian walk. Of this, I am confident.

Now, May God grant YOU His Encouragement as You View This:

If this presentation has ministered truth to your own heart, then I ask that you will help me share its message by forwarding this post on to others via email, or embedding the presentation itself into your own facebook page or blog.
